During his 20-year career, Javier T. Duran has first-chaired dozens of trials. Javier’s legal expertise spans an impressive array of substantive areas. He has worked with complex, multi-party, and multi-district litigations, and his practice areas emphasize representing businesses and individuals in employment, business litigation, personal injury, and products liability. Javier also has experience representing the transportation industry and major retailers.
Javier received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Rice University in 1995, and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Texas School of Law in 1999. Prior to law school, Javier worked in residential construction repairing and remodeling homes in low-income neighborhoods.
After law school, Javier moved to San Antonio in 2000 to join the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. During his career as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney, Javier investigated, prepared, and tried cases in the felony and juvenile courts—developing an intensity and attention to detail he harnesses in his private practice.
Javier is licensed by the State Bar of Texas to practice in all Texas Courts and is licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. He is a member of the San Antonio Bar Association and the Texas Association of Defense Counsel.
Outside of his legal practice, Javier dedicates time teaching robot design and programming and coaching robotics teams from elementary through high school, twice taking his robotics teams all the way to world robotics competition.
