Biography

David is a transactional real estate attorney who represents buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, grantors, and grantees in a wide range of commercial real estate transactions. His practice includes all aspects of the acquisition, disposition, and development of improved and unimproved commercial properties, including single-family and multi-family residential projects, retail and restaurant properties, and industrial facilities. David also has extensive experience negotiating and drafting commercial leases, including ground leases and build-to-suit leases, for industrial, retail, restaurant, and office spaces on behalf of both landlords and tenants. He also brings unique expertise in real estate transactions involving telecommunications infrastructure, including the acquisition, disposition, and leasing of tower sites and the negotiation of related easements, and advises landowners in connection with lease negotiations for renewable energy projects such as wind farms and solar farms.

David also advises clients on ancillary transactional matters, including entity formation, structuring, and negotiation of financing in connection with real estate transactions.

David is a native Houstonian and a graduate of Bellaire High School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Houston and his law degree from South Texas College of Law.

  • Represented a private family in the assembly of hundreds of undeveloped lots for sale to an industrial developer, including the identification and resolution of numerous title defects across the portfolio

  • Represented an energy company affiliate in the negotiation of a land swap agreement with another energy company, including the release and granting of new pipeline and access easements
  • Represented a corporate tenant in the negotiation of a multi-floor office lease in a new office building for use as the tenant’s new Houston headquarters
  • Represented a private rural landowner in the negotiation of a large-scale solar farm lease encompassing over 1,500 acres, with aggregate rent in excess of $100 million
  • Represented a manufacturer of solar panels in the negotiation of a long-term lease for a production facility, with aggregate rent in excess of $130 million
  • Represented a client in the acquisition and redevelopment of a city-designated historic property
