Biography
Matthew J. Longoria is a skilled attorney specializing in complex commercial litigation and construction disputes, with a robust background in both trial advocacy and transactional law. Matthew leverages his diverse legal experience to deliver strategic solutions for clients facing high-stakes disputes. Matthew represents businesses in contract disputes, breach of warranty claims, and commercial torts providing aggressive advocacy and pragmatic resolution strategies.
Prior to joining Cokinos | Young, Matthew was a municipal attorney representing governmental entities where he provided legal guidance on a wide range of issues, including complex land use and zoning decisions, personnel and employment matters, and water and wastewater utility disputes. In his criminal prosecution practice as city attorney, Matthew was lead attorney on more than two dozen jury and bench trials that resulted in successful verdicts.
Matthew has deep roots in the local community, with a diverse professional background spanning both legal and creative industries. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Film and Digital Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law. He also studied intellectual property law at Beihang University in Beijing, China, with a focus on emerging Chinese copyright and trademark law.
Matthew’s unique blend of trial experience, transactional insight, and creative problem-solving enables him to effectively navigate complex commercial litigation and construction disputes, delivering results for clients in and out of the courtroom.
